SWING JAM is an opportunity for the Claremont Colleges Lindy Hop Club to host a FREE event to dancers on and off-campus through the support of the Claremont Colleges ON SATURDAY APRIL 26TH, 2008. Swing Jam has been sponsored by a number of organizations in order to add to our weekly routine of lessons, lindy-bombing, and going out dancing at local venues.

CHANGES
This year we have a number of new additions to our bi-annual Swing Jam:

1. The Colleges have the pleasure of enjoying music by Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five.

2. For a second time, we are collaborating with student-run Non-Profit organization Autism Research & Treatment, Inc. to help raise money for autism research by bringing the kind hearts of SoCal dancers together.

3. During the day of Swing Jam, the Claremont Colleges are partially subsidizing  a three-hour workshop by Ben and Sheri Yau. This is a great way to learn some great moves, work on technique, and an even easier way to support autism research! See below for registration information.

4. Claremont and USC are co-hosting the First Annual Intercollegiate Swing Cup with the aim of bringing colleges from surrounding areas together to compete for the best dancers in Southern California. Some of the competitors come from, but are not limited to: CalTech, Chapman, Biola, USC, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, UCR, and more!

HISTORY
One of the first Swing Jams was held at Scripps College in Balch Auditorium in the Spring of 01, featuring DJing by Shesha and Nikki Marvin. Following some ups and downs in club activity at the 5-C's, there was a lull in Swing Jams at Claremont until Fall of 2004. Since then, the club has consistently hosted biannual Swing Jams that keep getting bigger and better, featuring live music, lessons, free dancing, a raffle for autism research, and this year, our first annual Intercollegiate Lindy Cup Competition. We would like to welcome this semester's swing jam as being the club's 12th Swing Jam!
